I spent many years living in Japan buying and selling broadcast and professional video equipment.
Most of my sources were distributors for the major manufacturers like Sony, Panasonic, Canon and Fujinon. I bought cameras, VTRs, lenses, switchers… etc. and exported worldwide.
There are only a handful of Japanese dealers who have a stronghold on Broadcast and Professional Video Equipment sales.
The companies are as follows:
Fujiya AVIC Proshop
System 5
Video Kinki
Pro Video Station
TRUST
But anyone who knows about business can tell you that purchasing from a reseller means you’re getting middled. Why not buy directly from the source? In the USA and worldwide markets we have eBay… but Japan doesn’t use eBay. Instead they use another auction site called Yahoo Auction.
Here’s a direct link to Broadcast Video Equipment in Japan that can be found on Yahoo Auction.
Wondering how you’ll be able to swing a purchase in Japanese?
Don’t worry - there are a few sites like Rinkya that allow you to Buy Direct from Japan in English.
I hope this info is helpful to those of you who are in the business of buying and selling professional video equipment.
Thanks for posting. This is very helpful for those of us in the industry. Cheers!
